Job Description Summary

Role Purpose:
The Global Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) Manager will oversee health and safety and risk associated with C&W Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) service delivery on the Mastercard client account. Ensures regulatory requirements, client EHS systems, Service Level Agreements, policies, and initiatives are integrated into C&W client account operations. Plans, directs, and implements C&W IFM EHS programs to ensure implementation of EHS best practices. This role will also have the responsibility of managing workplace EHS for the North America Region.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead the clientâ™s Workplace Safety program across the Globe, ensuring EHS is integrated into operations at each site within the account.
  • Reports on EHS performance to the client Global Leadership team.
  • Effectively communicate the clientâ™s safety culture and operating philosophies.
  • Collaborates with IFM Account leadership to ensure implementation of EHS systems.
  • Manage a team of Regional EHS leads across the globe to ensure client compliance requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with the Global Workplace EHS, Enterprise Risk Management, and Environmental Sustainability leads to implement plans relating to the IFM service being provided that comply with the clientâ™s policies and procedures as well as local legislative requirements.
  • Lead and manage the Climate Risk Analyst, ensuring their success in conducting climate risk and resilience analysis in response to client requests utilizing third-party climate software.
  • Utilizing the Clientâ™s regulatory compliance and EHS software systems, inspect organization facilities and job sites to detect potential workplace hazards. Determine corrective or preventative measures, where indicated, assign responsibility, and follow up to ensure the corrective measures have been implemented.
  • Maintain and monitor all site-specific workplace EHS legal registers, EHS plans relating to IFM Service, client global design standards, capital projects, and finished office project standards as required.
  • Conduct periodic EHS inspections/audits on all job sites to ensure EHS procedures relating to the built environment are in place.
  • Identify gaps in existing SOPs and implement more efficient procedures.
  • Manage the administration and implementation of Workplace EHS initiatives, programs, and procedures, ensuring any remedial recommendations are implemented with focus on continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and manage responses to queries received via the Workplace Safety inbox in a timely manner.

Risk Management

  • Supports the Director of Physical Climate Risk & Resilience with performing Physical Climate Risk Site Assessment utilizing the clientâ™s online audit portal, to determine building self-resilience, evaluation of work controls in place and the strength of business continuity plan regarding weather events.
  • Provide regular reporting to Client for site specific evaluations pertaining to Physical Climate Risk through a third-party climate data provider.
  • Liaise with global security, global health and safety, human resources, risk management and business continuity teams to ensure client standards and processes are observed.
  • Review, develop and implement client company compliance and guidance documents.
  • Provide recommendations and assistance with respect to job site hazards, employee training, new/safe equipment operation and safe material or substance utilization.
  • Remain current on regional EHS requirements. Keep management advised of new or revised regulations and their projected impact relating to the client and IFM service being provided.
  • Plan and implement programs to train IFM managers and employees in overall EHS practices, safe equipment operating techniques and fire life safety prevention for all sites.
  • Ability to carry out incident investigation and root cause analysis, as it pertains to the built environment and relating to the IFM service being provided.
  • Support the clientâ™s Global Security, Health & Safety, and IFM Managers, as requested, in the investigation of accidents and relevant near misses, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved courses of action.
  • Investigate or arrange for all incidents and relevant near misses relating to the IFM service being provided to be investigated, prepare report of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action.

Governance & Compliance Support

  • Oversee regular audits and inspections at client locations relating to the IFM service being provided.
  • Plan and implement risk management, EHS policies and procedures in alignment with all local rules and regulations, relating to the IFM service being provided.
  • Liaise annually with the Director of Physical Climate Risk & Resilience and other associated teams regarding physical climate risk as it pertains to priority locations.
  • Supervise the administration and record keeping regarding region specific audits, inspections, workplace safety reports, climate self-assessment etc.
  • Utilize the clientâ™s regulatory compliance database to ensure compliance across global real estate portfolio.
  • Oversee the clientâ™s global ergonomic training program and procedures are in accordance with legislative requirements and the IFM service being provided.
  • Ensure the online Chemical Safety Data Sheet database is maintained to ensure global sites compliance and accurate record keeping.

Formal Education & Certification

  • Bachelor of Science with an EHS discipline or relevant scientific or engineering field.
  • Requires 10+ years of experience within the EHS profession.
  • Preferred experience managing global EHS policies, standards, programs, or procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership, influencing and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common EHS technical journals and legal documents.
  • Exercise creative, innovative and effective problem solving.
  • The ability to travel (approximately 10% mostly within the United States).
  • Experience within Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) is desirable.
  • Candidates with Professional Certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM) are preferred.
  • Demonstrable success in Systems Management across multiple accounts/sites
  • Subject Matter Expertise in EHS and relevant Global Standards.
  • Well-developed research and report writing skills.
  • Sound Investigative and Auditing skills supported by formal training.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Teams and Office Applications (Words, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) required; third party EHS and climate software providers experience a plus.
  • Review/follow up to ensure optimum results.

  • Able to perform duties independently and lead a global team.
  • Ability to deal with situations involving sensitive and confidential company issues.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to senior management, job site personnel, regulatory agencies and/or public groups.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to review current practice, processes, and systems to identify gaps and provide workable solutions
